How to Burn an Audio Disk From Practice Files

Hi gang,

I know some of you would like a little tutorial on how to create (burn) an audio CD from the practice files. I'm sure there is more than one way to accomplish this, but I can tell you what works for me and hopefully it will work for you as well.

First, go to the audio file page of this blog and click on the link for a file you want to keep. That will take you to my Google Docs page, where in the center of the screen will be the file you wanted. Click on the "Download" button and you will be given two options: "*Open with _______________" and "*Save File." Choose "*Save File" and it will save the file to your computer--most likely in your "Download" folder. Repeat this action for each file you wish to keep.

Once you have the files on your computer, you can go into your Download folder using Windows Explorer any time and listen to a file by double-clicking on it. It will pull up your default player (mine is ITunes).

To create an audio CD, open Windows Media Player and select the "Burn" tab. Also open Windows Explorer and find your "Download" folder where your files are stored. Make these two program windows small enough so you can see them both on your desktop at the same time. Simply drag the files from your download folder into the "Burn list" section of Windows Media Player. You can drag the files up or down the burn list to re-order them in any order you wish to burn them.

Once you have your list of song files, insert a blank CD in your drive and click the "start burn" button. The burn process should automatically begin once the program finds the blank CD. Sometimes I have to close the CD drive a couple of times before it recognizes it.

Windows Media Player comes on computers that have Windows operating systems, so it's likely already on your computer unless you have a Mac. ITunes is a free download if you want to get it. Just Google search for it. Let me know if you have any questions. I may not have the answer, but I can probably find it!
